My daughter has an old lunch box

In which I guess she hides

Her special things, I can’t be sure

I’m not allowed inside.

I’ve got a box like hers and mine

Is full of memories

Assembled lovingly

A life from A to Z.

It’s mine (It’s mine)

It’s mine (Mine)

It’s mine, all mine.

It’s mine (It’s mine)

It’s mine (Mine)

It’s mine, all mine.

Everywhere I’ve been—got it

Everyone I’ve known—near

Everything I’ve learned—oh yes

Every thing I’ve owned—here

Every pain I’ve felt—present

Every joy I knew—too

Everything I’ve done

What I did not do.

The things we want are much the same

And so in fact are we

A place to live, some food to eat

Some happiness and peace

But everyone’s experience

Has details so unique

And this must surely be

The only one for me.

It’s mine (It’s mine)

It’s mine (Mine)

It’s mine, all mine.

It’s mine (It’s mine)

It’s mine (Mine)

It’s mine, all mine.

Quiet rainy days—got it

Early morning light—near

Fireflies at dusk—oh yes

Stillness in the night—here.

Summer-scented air—present

Frigid starry sky—too

Half-remembered songs

I can’t make it through.

Everywhere I’ve lived—got it

Things I should’ve known—near

Objects of desire—oh yes

Every chance I’ve blown—here

Everything I ate—present

Every joke that worked—too

Every single heartbreak

And dream come true.

And when this all is over

I would bet I’ll entertain

A thought or two about this life

And all that it’s contained

The people that I’ve known and loved

And all the times I’ve had

I know that I’ll be sad

And at the same time glad...

It’s mine (It’s mine)

It’s mine (Mine)

It’s mine, all mine.

It’s mine (It’s mine)

It’s mine (Mine)

It’s mine, all mine.

It’s mine (It’s mine)

It’s mine (Mine)

It’s mine, all mine.

It’s mine (It’s mine)

It’s mine (Mine)

It’s mine, all mine.
