Kicking and screaming

That’s how I roll

I’m really okay

With the devil I know

So come on please

And let it go

You say to be flexible

But I don’t know.

The truth is I don’t know

What awaits us ahead

Trouble or worse

Or heaven on earth

But if you say jump

I’ll jump with you

Keep an open mind

And see what we can do.

Face it

Everything changes

Eternally strange is

The way it must be

Adieu

To what you’ve been into

It’s in with the brand-new

Inevitably.

Just when I think

I’m finally cool

It hits the old fan

With a change in the rules.

So climb onboard

Go back to school

And learn a new trick or two

To fool the fools.

Oh, such a budding swami

I think that I am

Eye on the prize

Growing so wise

But if I’m so full

Of cosmic goo

Maybe I can pull

A rabbit from the blue.

Face it

Everything changes

Eternally strange is

The way it must be

Swirling clouds of starlings

In December skies

Remind me how our lives

Can seem to stabilize

The moment that they settle down

It’s off they go

Whirling and careening

Across the world below.

If I could stop the clock

At the way I feel now

All in one piece

It’d be so sweet.

But back at Plan B

I’ll play along

Trying not to blink

Whatever comes along.

Face it

Everything changes

Eternally strange is

The way it must be

Adieu

To what you’ve been into

It’s in with the brand-new

Inevitably.
