The Moon and Me
Moonlight
Beyond the pines
A highway
That sings and shines
It's fine
That no one else rides
Upon this road
The moon
And me below.
Days gone by
I would drive and drive
Through the darkness
In search of the other side.
What the hey?
Though I've changed my ways
Here I am, here we go,
Like the olden days.
Back at home they're fast asleep
As over hill and dale I creep.
Moonlight
Beyond the pines
A highway
That sings and shines
It's fine
That no one else rides
Upon this road
The moon
And me below.
What on earth is wrong with me
Who buckled in and turned the key?
Moonlight
Beyond the pines
A highway
That sings and shines
It's fine
That no one else rides
Upon this road
The moon
And me below.
Free at last
From my lonely past
And the heartache
I feared I could not outlast.
Problem solved
Emptiness resolved
Better days here to stay
I have been absolved.
Up beyond that second bend
I'll turn around for home again.
Moonlight
Beyond the pines
A highway
That sings and shines
It's fine
That no one else rides
Upon this road
The moon
And me below,
The moon
And me below,
The moon
And me below.
