Servant to the Sea

Engineering: Mario Salvati

Clouds over my shoulder

Sunset at my back

I’m heading for an eastern shore

To find the things I lack

I’ll head out on the ocean

The winds will surely blow

And gives the waters motion

And our ship the means to go

I’ll be sailing on some blessed ship

A sailor’s life for me

I’ll work all day for little pay

I’m tired of being free

I’ll be servant to the sea

A child, I spent my schooldays

Thinking what I’d be

When school was done

And I would run

I’d be a man and free

But I’m water in search of a river now

Hammer in search of a nail

Gift in search of a giver

Shell in search of a snail

I’ll be sailing on some blessed ship

A sailor’s life for me

I’ll search for gold ‘til evening’s toll

I’m tired of being free

I’ll be servant to the sea

The waters roll

The wind blows free

They have no need to know

Where to go

Or what to be

They seek no path to follow

But I’m water in search of a river now

Ship in search of a sea

I need a flow in which to go

A course on which to be

I’ll be sailing on some blessed ship

A sailor I will be

I’ll work all day for little pay

I’m tired of being free

I’ll be servant to the sea
