I Knew It

I sure have been around a while

I see through a phony smile

The tears of a crocodile

I saw her coming miles away

I figured I would be okay

I do know how the game is played.

Pen in hand

I took my chances

Made the best

Of circumstances

Looked around

And found no answers

Signed the dotted line.

I knew it

The lady robbed me blind

I knew it

She took everything I had

I knew it

The signs were there:

"Look out" "beware"

But me oh my what did I do?

I blew it.

Silly me

I tried to reason

Held my tongue

And kept appeasing

(But) here we are

It’s hunting season

Load and lock and fire.

I knew it

The lady robbed me blind

I knew it

She took everything I had

I knew it

The signs were there:

"Look out" "beware"

But me oh my what did I do?

I blew it.

And so my butt got compromised

When very much to my surprise

She got me right between the eyes

I thought she'd cave with just a nudge

I told my story to a judge

The magistrate he wouldn't budge.

Take my word

Or take a tumble

Hide the ball

Or soon you’ll fumble

Crazy folks

They’ll keep you humble

Nuts will find a way.

I knew it

The lady robbed me blind

I knew it

She took everything I had

I knew it

The signs were there:

"Look out" "beware"

But me oh my what did I do?

I blew it.
